Also The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol will be on hand.  The PBSO Mounted Unit was formed in 1984 when the Sheriff's Office assimilated the Palm Beach County Parks Police Department. Since that time, the Mounted
Unit's purpose has been to serve as a diversified patrol unit, lending itself to sound public relations while supporting the efforts of PBSO's law enforcement divisions.
 
As a support services unit, the Mounted Unit provides the unique resource of equestrian patrol to Parks Enforcement, District Road Patrol, the ERM Unit and the District Detective Bureau. The advantage of equestrian patrol is the deputy's ability to traverse across terrain inaccessible to patrol vehicles
to search wooded areas for suspects or missing persons, patrol canal banks
behind houses that have recently been burglarized, thread through
pedestrian-rich parks and entertainment events, etc. Additionally, the very
nature of equestrian patrol is a high profile crime deterrent and an
effective means of satisfying the requests for "extra patrol," as people
will always remember a horse seen in an urban area.
